My name is Jason West and I am running for Mayor of New Paltz. I am 34 years old, have lived in New Paltz for the past fifteen years, and previously served as Mayor of New Paltz from 2003-2007. |
I was born and raised in Latham, New York. Like many before me, I came to New Paltz to go to college, fell in love with this place and decided to stay and make it my home. I am a housepainter by trade, and have volunteered in the community since I first moved here in 1995. I had the honor of serving as Mayor of New Paltz from 2003 to 2007. We accomplished great things in those four years, and began working on a host of other great projects when I lost my re-election in 2007. My goal is to finish what we started: more environmental initiatives and policies that save taxpayer money, an active, engaged community participating in governing our village, housing that's affordable, and a local economy dependent on locally-owned businesses just to name a few. |
